We are Brett and Lisa Berry, the outdoors-loving couple behind Backyard Guru. We own and operate a landscape design and construction company in Kansas City, Missouri. Our mission is to help people work with nature to create landscaping ideas that will allow them to spend more time outdoors.

Our landscape design company began with a single garden that Brett designed in the late 1990s and has grown into a corporation that builds beautiful backyard living areas. We've created the venues for a number of local weddings and have designed backyard spa and poolscapes throughout our metropolitan area. We also have a traveling crew that can build our designs anywhere in the country.      

We received the design award from Kansas City Parks and Recreation for the Best Overall Small Theme Garden in 2003 and 2004. Since then, our company has grown and spun off two separate entities that now operate in Ohio and Oregon.

We believe that the best landscape designs increase both the beauty and the usefulness of an outdoor area. We also believe that people benefit from time spent outdoors, so we want to help create landscape designs that contribute to outdoor enjoyment.

In addition to landscape design ideas, we recently began offering a selection of our favorite outdoor furniture and fixtures. We have collected some of the most unique and interesting pieces available to help complete outdoor living areas.

There is no project too big or too small for us. What is most important to us is working with the natural elements of your property to create the outdoor space that will bring you the most enjoyment. We believe life is a gift to be enjoyed, and that many people find their most enjoyable moments outdoors. We hope to help you build yours.
